A great day out for everyone in beatiful Balquhidder, with three main cycle challenges and lots of family fun and activities for all.

THE PROGRAMME

ALL DAY FROM 10AM

KIDS BIKE AGILITY COURSE

in Kirkton field (free)

BIKE CHECKS/CLINIC by Wheels Cycling Centre (free)

FUN TENT with face painting and "Style it up" bike decorating!

FOOD - Coffees, Teas, Home Baking & BBQ at the village hall.

RIDER CHECK-IN OPENS and the coffee and bacon rolls start!

11.00AM

KIRKTON GLEN X-COUNTRY 1000ft ascent/descent challenge.

Join the keen mountain bikers in this 10k challenge or simply wander up into the woods and watch the action/cheer them on. (First riders back in <40mins)

12.00PM

     Short'n'Sweet     

SHORT' N SWEET RACES in Kirkton field. Short, quick, easy, fun and free races for younsters up to 7 yrs with sweets as prizes.

1.00PM

   Big Bike Parade   

THE BIG NOISY FAMILY BIKE PARADE led by the Pipers and Bikers of Balquhidder, with all cyclists (young and old) invited to join in! A great spectacle with lots of noise - ring that bell and toot that horn!! (Approx 600m)

2.00PM

  NAT7 Loop Race  

NAT7 12K LOOP CHALLENGE

Join the keen road cyclists on this 12k challenge round the local Nat 7 cycle route loop. (Fastest riders back in <30mins) Find out more >>

2.05PM

  The Mellow Pedal   

MELLOW PEDAL All families and riders not joining the NAT7 loop challenge are welcome to join a "mellow pedal" round all, or part of the scenic national 7 cycle route in a social family rideout! Mass start - no reg'n necessary - Open and free to everyone!

KIDS FUN FREE DUATHLONS

 - MICRO A short "run and bike" fun race in Kirkton field for up to 8yr olds.

 - MINI A short "run and bike" fun race in Kirkton field for 9-12yrs. 

Both FREE to enter. Register on day.

   Sprint Duathlons   

2k DUATHLON CHALLENGE

Short fast and furious...these fun duathlons involve a run over 400m and a cycle over 1600m. Great to be part of, or to watch!

The event is held in the village of Balquhidder, based at the hall. The postcode is FK19 8PA

 

PARKING

The immediate area around the village hall will be a CAR FREE AREA.

 

There is a designated free parking area just 200m away from the village hall across the Balvaig Bridge and turn right here. Follow the parking signs.

 

TOILETS & FOOD

All located at village hall. A BBQ will be running all day plus teas, coffees, soft drinks and home baking.

 

BIKE SECURITY

Please take adequate measures to ensure your bike is safe. The event organisers cannot be held responsible for any loss of or damage to equipment.

 

ROAD CLOSURES

The police will be closing the following roads for brief periods on the day during these time slots.

Mhor 84-Balquhidder Hall between 2pm and 2.45pm

Strathyre-Balquhidder Hall back road between 2.15pm and 3.15pm

WARNING WHISTLE

If you hear a loud whistle from a marshall a rider is coming - Look out, and please get well out of the way!

RIDERS INFO

All riders wishing to ride in all/any of the KXC1000, NAT7 or Sprint Duathlon events are encouraged to pre-register using this form

 

Pre-registered riders can then simply check-in at the registration desk on the day, pay their £10 entry fee and collect their allocated rider number. (This fee covers entry into all events)

 

There will also be the option to register on the day, but this takes longer and spaces will only be available if there is capacity.
