The NAT 7

The NAT7 12k loop takes place on the National 7 cycle route, starting from Balquhidder to Mhor84, Strathyre and back to Balquhidder.

 

Riders wishing have a rider number, be timed + recorded in the results should pre-register in start group A or B. 

 

All families and individuals are then invited to join a FREE mass start group of "mellow pedallers" to ride all/part of the way round the loop in their own time! (Reg'n not necessary)

PRE-REGISTRATION ONLINE

All riders are urged to pre-register online to secure a place in this event. Click here to register

 

Families and/or individuals wanting to join the casual mass-start "mellow pedal" group, leaving after the racers, dont need to register.

 

RIDER CHECK-IN BY 1.15pm

Racers that have pre-registered online should check-in before 1.15pm, pay £10 for their race entry, sign necessary paperwork and pickup their rider numbers.

 

1.30PM START GROUPS ARE ANNOUNCED for the two start groups A and B.

 

2.00PM START

Start Group A (Experienced road riders and/or super-fit) will go off first, Start Group B (enthusiastic riders looking to put in a good personal time) will set off second.

The final group to depart will  be the mellow pedalling families and individuals wishing to cycle all / part of the route in their own time.

 

2.25PM FIRST RIDERS IN

Most riders will complete the route in approx 25-40mins

THE ROUTE

DURATION: 25-35mins

 

The start is next to Balquhidder village hall.

 

Riders then head east for 3.1k to towards Mhor84 (Kingshouse).

 

Just before the "A84 flyover bridge" at Mhor84 competitors turn right (south) joining the “super smooth”, newly opened 3.4k Sustrans cycle track to Strathyre.

 

In Strathyre riders turn right across the stone bridge onto the Balquhidder “back road” for an initial climb out of the village of 62m, and then follow an undulating ride back along the 5.8k scenic route, all the way to Balquhidder village hall.

 

The main junctions will have the direction marked by an arrow. Some will also be marshalled.

RIDER INFO

OPEN TO:

Tiders that register for start groups A or B will be allocated a race number and be timed. These categories are open to all keen road cyclists aged 13 or over. (The mellow pedal untimed group is open to all ages abilities). 

 

A+B AGE CATEGORIES:

Youth - 13-16yrs

Open - 17-39yrs

Masters - 40+yrs

(Age as at date of event)

 

EQUIPMENT:

Any serviced and sound bicycle. Helmet, glasses / eye protection. Water bottle. Mobile phone.

Puncture repair kit.

 

RIDER RESPONSIBILITY:

Every rider is responsible for their own conduct, actions and choice of line taken along the route.

 

Take particular care on the descents and ride within your control/capability. On downhill bends, always ensure that you can stop within the distance you can see.

 

Beware of uneven surfaces, loose grit, protruding/low hanging branches and any pot holes.

 

Above all please ride safely and with due courtesy to other riders, marshalls and members of the public.
