ABOUT THE HALL - Specs & technical info

Location & Directions:

Balquhidder hall is located in the centre of the village of Balquhidder overlooking the Loch. It has sufficient parking space for about 16 cars in the car park. Overflow parking is available along the side of the small B road directly opposite the hall.

Balquhidder can be found 2 miles off the main A84 trunk road between Stirling and Lochearnhead. Exit the A84 at Mhor 84 and drive 2 miles along a narrow B road. You will then enter the village of Balquhidder and the hall is on your right at the junction, behind a red telephone box.

Layout & Size

Balquhidder Hall is approximately 11m wide by 18m long with large windows on the south facing (road) side.

Inside, the beech floor extends to approx 200sqm and provides adequate space for a party of up to 120 people allowing space for tables, chairs and a dance floor area.

The main hall can have a section (called the McLaren room) separated off by a sound-proof partition. The McLaren room is approx 6m x 3m with windows to the north.

For stage productions, the comfortable audience seating the capacity is approx 90 people (if the McLaren room is closed off for use as a dressing room.)

In addition to the main hall area and McLaren Room, there is a separate kitchen, and an entrance hall, as well as ladies and gents toilets. Off the entrance hall is a shower room with disabled access toilet.

Equipment

HEATING

The hall is fully centrally heated and this cost is included in the hire charge.

KITCHEN/CATERING

The kitchen is well equipped with a large commercial gas hob and oven, as well as a dishwasher, sink, microwave and 2 kettles. There is limited crockery and hirers are advised to bring this in from elsewhere if catering for any number.

TABLES & CHAIRS

There are about 130 plastic stacking chairs, 12 small tables (1m x 1m) and 6 large tables (1m x 3m). These are free to use.

PIANO

There is a modern top quality upright piano and stool.

STAGE & LIGHTS

The fully curtained stage is 6m wide by 2m deep. It also has a 1.2m apron that can be extended out to give more depth. The stage is equipped with an LED dmx controlled theatre lighting system suitable for amateur dramatic productions.

There is also LED floor and scene/mood lighting for the main hall area with ceiling effect laser lighting and disco lights.

ADDITIONAL MODULAR STAGING

There is a selection of temporary staging modules that can be used to build a further stage extension or steps up to the main stage. This is available for use as part of your rental fee.

SOUND & SYSTEM

There is a 12 channel PA system suitable for live performances / concerts. Three microphones and stands are also available along with a separate portable bluetooth battery powered amp for outside functions.

CINEMA QUALITY PROJECTION

A new cinema quality projection system is installed with HDMI connection points front and back of the hall.

GIGABIT WIFI

The hall boasts a gigabit open hotspot.

SPORTS EQUIPMENT

The floor is marked out for badminton and there are rackets a net and shuttle cocks available at no extra cost.
